Monthly Snapshots - March 2013

I think I'm going to try and make this a monthly feature, I really enjoy reading Dawn's blog and this entices me every time I read it.
1) Candle scents this month:
Red Velvet. Vanilla Cupcake. Black Coconut. Honey & Spice.

2) What I am reading this month:
Striker by Michelle Betham. In Betwen Jobs by British Actor Duncan Pow.

3) Top three songs I was drawn to:
Not really been listening to much really this month.

4) Movies I saw:
Django. There was nothing on the tv on Easter Sunday night and as we never went out we decided to watch this. All I can say is what a great film.

5) Calendar image for the month:

I'm afraid I don't have any images on my calendar....boooo!

6) New recipe tried this month:
I tried Slimming World Chicken. It's a bit like KFC but much much more healthy.

7) Restaurants where I ate:
Harvester @ Bentley Wood Farm.

8) Five things I am loving this month:
1) That it's nearly my birthday.
2) Being more open with Kevin.
3) Having found a new iPhone to play with.
4) Finding that clothes are starting to fit better.
5) Losing weight.

9) Three (Five)  goals I had this month and three goals for next month:
1. Lose my Stone at SlimmingWorld and get my stone award. Of course this still hasn't happened.
2. Scan more old photos with mom ready to send to Hannah (my brother's sister in law) for my brother's upcoming wedding. We managed to get through 4 boxes the other night.
3. Make at least one or two slimming World meals. I did make KFC style chicken so it's a bonus.
4. Find a nice dress to wear at our kid's wedding. I do actually have the dress that I wore for Kate's hen do, I don't think I can get away with wearing it again can I?
5. Finish session 4 of and submit of my Business Admin course. I have written the assessment but haven't submitted it yet!

1. Get my stone award at Slimming World and make at least 2 more recipes from the magazine.
2. Sort out a budget planner and track my finances every week.
3.Download three new books for my kindle.

10) This month I looked forward to:
Kate's Hen do at Jamie's Italian in manchester.

11) Something I want to be thankful for this month:
Having some "ME" time away from Kevin because of the shitty weather. We all need a bit of space now and again.

12) A photo I took this month: I actually took a few (lol).
The first one is the day of Kate's Hen do. This was my make-up for the night.

This next one is a photo of Kevin and I that I took on Good Friday when we went out for a couple of drinks.

Tuesday Topics

The Austin Family Diary

I missed this link up last week, but will make up for it with extra blog posts.

Seven Things I do every day. Hmmmm, lets see.

I go on Facebook. I can't help it, I'm slightly obsessed.

I check my Twitter account. Again I know I'm slightly obsessed. Oh and check Instagram too!

I read blog posts from my favourite bloggers.

I check my emails for potential work.

I check the works email almost every 2-3 hours.

I wake up at the same time (7.00-7.30am) even if I'm not at work.

Text Kevin. I know he gets a bit fed up of hearing from me everyday, but hey a girls gotta share her love with her man right?

So there you have my 7 things that I do everyday. Pretty boring stuff right.

Five for 5

It's Easter Monday and because its fallen on the 1st April this year that can only mean ONE thing. It's only a week to my birthday!!!!! Yes it's a week today!
I haven't really got anything planned but that might change. Seeing I'm typing this on my moms iPad I can't get the colors to signify completed tasks so you will have to bare with me until I can get to my laptop.

Anyway without further ado, here's how I got on last week with my Five for 5.

RED = Incompleted Tasks. PURPLE = Semi completed Tasks. GREEN=Completed Tasks.

1) Put some money away for Apple Mac.
This never got done again. I will get round to doing this once I get sorted with a decent job.
2) Do at least three sessions of yoga.
This kinda got a bit neglected last week. But I made up for it in going for a walk three times last week.
3) Finish assessment 4 of my Business Admin course.
I am naughty because this STILL hasn't been done. I will complete it this week.
4) Pay £23.50 off my bill for 02.
I didn't get chance to do this. So it will have to wait until next time.
5) Sort out blog lovin.
This never materialised either so I,ll give it another go when I get chance.

This weeks tasks are as follows.

1) Start a weekly budget plan.
Kevin wants us to go away on holiday this year, but it's too expensive so if I want to go, I will need to start saving some money.
2) Put £20-40 away each week from this week towards my holiday.
This needs to be on the very top of my to-do list this week! I am not not having a week/ten days in this horrible weather!
3) Find a job.
I really need to do this, because I feel like I'm always skint!
4) Find a nice dress for our Johnny's wedding.
I do have one but I don't think it's pretty enough for wedding.
5) Use my E-cig every day.
I need to do this one because the price of cigarettes is due to go up by 26p soon and they will be almost £7.40 for a pack. It's a good incentive to start giving them up!

Here's to a great week.

Finish the Sentence Link Up.

I saw this on Allie's blog and thought it sounds like fun so I'm linking up with Holly and Jake via Allie.

4. Family functions typically...Cringe. Except when I know that certain people aren't going to be there.

5. I think my blog readers... Seriously, I don't have all that many followers so this one is a bit hard to comment on...

6. I'd much rather be..... Sunning myself on the beach in Salou or lazing by the pool with a nice cold beer.

7. I have an obsession with.... Nail Art, MUA. Cute little dresses. Owls. Panda's. My iPhone. Instagram. Twitter. Facebook. Gratitude Journal.Happier.
Honestly the app's list is endless.

Now. Finish this sentence. Who was your second ever blate with....

Kevin. One new years eve. I won't say any more because it's painful to talk about it and remember it.

Five For 5

Is it Monday again already? It not long off Easter now and it will soon be my birthday! Whoooo Hooo!
I was rather bad at keeping to my goals from last week. I think I only managed ONE of them. That's BAD!

Red = Uncompleted Tasks. Blue =Semi Completed Tasks. Green= Completed Tasks.

1) Try and do at least 3 sessions of Activity this week. I don't know why this one wasn't a green. It could be but I've given it Blue because  I was just so busy trying to get some of my course (business admin) done that I couldn't be bothered to do anything after I got home from work. I did however lose 1 and a half pounds last week at Slimming World and only need to lose 3lbs and I'll get my stone award this week!
2) Finish Chapters 1 & 2 of my short story and my assignment. This was definitely a no go because I was busy with my course.
3)Put some money away for an Apple Mac. I need a new laptop. I will get some money put away this week. For definite.
4) Sort out and de-clutter my desk at home. Yeah. Finally got this done. My desk looks a lot tidier now, it's still cluttered some but at least I've tidied all my papers away and put things away after I have used them.
5) Keep my mouth shut in a bad situation. I've decided this one will be a blue because I've not really been in a bad situation to be honest.

This weeks tasks are as follows:

1) Put some money aside towards an Apple Mac.
2) Do at least 3 sessions of Yoga.
3) Finish assessment 4 of My Business Admin Course.
4) Pay £20 off my o2 Bill on Friday.
5) Sort out BlogLovin.

I'm going to try and get all of these done. I really want to do number 4 anyway!

Magazine's & Jewellery & Home Alone

Ok, so It's Wednesday. I know this post is usually done on a Tuesday but I was so busy with My Business & Administration course yesterday that I forgot all about doing this. I could have posted it when I got home but I was at Kevin's until gone 10pm and was actually so tired from writing notes and submitting mini-assessments yesterday.

Anyway here goes:

1st Time Home Alone.
I don't actually remember my mom and dad letting me and my brother stay home alone that much really. I think it was only when we were in High School that we started staying home alone. When we did stay home alone after coming home from school it was only really for an hour or so until my mom came home from work.

1st Magazine Subscription.
I never had any teen magazine subscriptions when I was little, but I do remember my grandma once got me and my brother a subscription to National Geographic. I used to enjoy reading the articles in there. But if I did have a magazine subscription I would have probably liked "More" or "Seventeen". My mom used to get "Prima", "Women's Own" and "Women's Weekly" sometimes when we went to the grocery store and I would sometimes read those.

1st Ever piece of "Real" Jewellery
When I was little my mom bought me a little cross. I used to wear that all the time until I got the cross in this picture. The other necklace is a silver heart with a little key (you can't really see it very well) that Kevin bought me for my birthday in the first year we were together. I had just come back from visiting my relatives in Australia with my mom and hadn't seen him for a whole month. Needless to say he had missed me too.

I know it's a bit late but they say better late than never. Looking forward to next week's link up.

Five for 5

Hey Ya'll. I can't believe it's Monday again. Seriously though, where are the days going? It doesn't feel like it's been two minutes since we were celebrating Christmas and New Year. Plus it's only seven weeks until my baby brother gets married...(expect a rather extended and very long blog post that week following!)

So on to the topic in question now...as it's Monday, ya'll know what that means. Yes It's time for Five for 5.
I actually had a terrible week last week so expect to see lots of reds. The reason for this is because both my folks were sick. They both had this really nasty cold/cough chesty thing that kept them off work for at least a week. Then last Sunday I started with it and felt awful all week. I finally started feeling a bit better on Friday but wasn't 100%. Then on Saturday I was up early to go visit the Trafford Centre (a big indoor shopping mall) with my mom for a Mother's Day special event day. (Will tell ya'll more about that later). And then it was off to Jamie Oliver's Italian in Manchester for my future sister-in-law's hen party.

Completed tasks in Purple. Semi-completed tasks in Pink and non completed in Red.

1) Plan my blog posts for the week.
All the posts I wanted to write are in my notepad so it's just a matter of typing them up and posting. I didn't do anything last week but sleep because I was so tired from being sick.
2) Try and do some activity this week. At least 3 sessions. I've borrowed my mum's yoga dvd, it's not something I had actually thought about doing as a form of activity, but they say it's supposed to tone you up and make you more supple, so I'm game! This definitely didn't happen!
3) Finish chapters 1 and 2 of my short story.
This one might prove difficult, as I actually have an assignment to complete this week for my Business and Administration course, but I will try and work on this at some stage this week. I didn't get round to completing my assignment due to being sick so this didn't happen either.
4) Don't be afraid to ask Kevin if I need to borrow money off him.
I don't like asking Kevin to lend me money if I haven't got any, but if there's something I need and I don't have money to buy it then usually I'll do without. Kevin's ok with lending me money as long as I pay him back, which he knows I'll do when I have it. I didn't see Kevin all week, with the exception of calling round on Friday to pick some shoes up that I needed for Saturday Night. But did get round to his place last night for a couple of hours.
5) Set up a weekly spending budget.
This one's important because I need to start watching what I'm spending my money on. I need some new jumpers for work as my old ones are looking a bit tatty, hopefully the Toshi Finance App on my iPhone will help with this. It lets you put in how much you have in your account when you get paid. Then you can add your spends for each day. Again this never happened because I was too sick to bother doing anything.

This weeks goals will follow on from last weeks...with a couple of amendments.

1) Try and do at least 3 sessions of Activity this week.
2) Finish Chapters 1 & 2 of my short story and my assignment.
3)Put some money away for an Apple Mac. I need a new laptop.
4) Sort out and de-clutter my desk at home.
5) Keep my mouth shut in a bad situation.

I am hoping I will get round to doing quite a lot of this, I am still feeling a little tired from being sick but I don't want another week like last week.

First Things First

It's Tuesday So That must mean First Things First...Here's what's on the agenda for this week.

First thing I reach for in the fridge
First car accident or traffic violation
First BIG accomplishment I'm proud of

1) First Thing I reach for in the fridge.
Hmmmm. This depends. Usually the Milk so I can make a cup of tea. Boring I know, but I'd rather have a cup of tea than juice or a soda. (We never have soda in our house now anyway).

2) First Car accident or Traffic Violation.
I don't remember much about my first car accident, except that I was with my mom and we were either going somewhere or coming back and I was sat in the middle of the back seat when this car pulled out in front of us and my mom had to jam the brakes on. I went forwards hitting my head on the gear stick.

My first traffic violation would be just before Christmas. I was rushing to get to work and had a Sunday driver  in front of me, so I overtook him and there was a mobile speed camera van, needless to say I got caught for speeding.

3) First BIG accomplishment I'm Proud of.
Losing half a stone at Slimming World.

And if you'd like to prepare and get ready for next week's First Things First link up, start by checking out next week's awesome co-hosts, Carrie @ The Carrie Gland & Allie @ Tales of a Twenty Something.
1. First real piece of jewelry you owned
2. First magazine subscription
3. First time staying home alone

Dating Disasters

button

I am so Looking forward to this link up today with Allie and Brin as I have a dating disaster story to tell you about....

It all began when I was around Twenty-Two. I hadn't been seeing anyone and my mam thought it would be nice to hook me up with this lad that used to go to the same gym as her. His name was Andy, apparently. She asked me what I though, I mean why would I want to go out on a Blind date with some guy I didn't even know. So anyway he gave my mum his number and I sent him a text.

We agreed to meet up at the local cinema (that cinema gives me the creeps every time I go near it now) and decided on watching Final Destination. We arrived at the cinema in separate cars, my mom took me and Andy came in his car. Andy said he would run me home afterwards. Mom said she would come for me.

As the film wasn't due to start for at least an hour Andy suggested a drink in the pub next door, so we went in and sat down, tried to get to know each other a bit. Andy was cute in a way. Dark Curly Hair and glasses. He was quite tall and beefy (that's muscled) due to his working out in the gym quite a lot. Soon after the film had finished we headed off for home. Andy took my number and said he would call me. He never did. I often wonder what he's up to these days. But in a way I'm glad things didn't work out with Andy...

1) He wasn't really my type. 2) I'd probably never have got the opportunity to meet Kevin.

Five For 5

Hey guys. It's Monday again. That can only mean one thing....

I don't think I did very well with my goals last week as I spent most nights at Kevin's and plus my dad wasn't too well, he was off work for four days with a chest infection, so I had to run the business for him. It wasn't a very productive week.

1)Plan blog posts for the week. I need to start doing this if I want to blog everyday or every other day. Researching what I want to blog about is important too. I've made this one an amber because I did actually plan what I wanted to blog about, I just didn't get round to posting it!
2) Walk or go for a quick walk either with mum or round the shops at least 4 x this week. I have just over 2 months now to slim down for my brother's wedding on the 27 April. I will do this! I'm having this as a red because mum and I only managed a walk once and then the rest of the week I was stuck in the office, but hopefully this week I'll manage to get at least some activity done.
3) Do my laundry for the week...I think this one might get neglected because Kevin's not working at the moment and I'll probably be at his flat until 11 pm most nights this week. Well I did get most of it done on Thursday. So it's a start!
4)Start taking my vitamins again. This one's important to me because since I stopped taking them I have started feeling more lethargic and tired. I want to sleep all the time. But last week I started taking them and have now put a reminder in my iPhone to make sure I take them everyday. This one was a huge success and I always take them as soon as I have got up. So it's a great start.
5) Do a daily food diary. This started off great for the first couple of days and then because I couldn't get home for lunch as I usually do. I will vow to do this again this week and make it work.

This week's I'm going to try and complete some of last weeks goals that were either red or amber so here goes....

1) Plan blog posts for the week and actually post them!
I think I might just get round to doing this, all the posts I wanted to write are in my notepad so it's just a matter of typing them up and posting.
2) Try and do some activity this week. At least 3 sessions. I've borrowed my mum's yoga dvd, it's not something I had actually thought about doing as a form of activity, but they say it's supposed to tone you up and make you more supple, so I'm game!
3) Finish chapters 1 and 2 of my short story.
This one might prove difficult, as I actually have an assignment to complete this week for my Business and Administration course, but I will try and work on this at some stage this week.

It lets you put in how much you have in your account when you get paid. Then you can add your spends for each day.

Hopefully I'll get round to completing most of these goals this week!

First Things First

Well today is Tuesday and that can only mean one thing.....It's time for

Today, the two lovely ladies co-hosting with Hallie  are Gayle @ Grace for Gayle and Ricci @ Ricci Explains It All
And today's topics, which are all food-related, are:
First beverage of choice
First breakfast of choice
First dessert of choice

1) First Breakfast of Choice.
Hmmm this is a tricky one. I would love to have this for breakfast everyday.

But if you're trying to watch your weight (Like Me!) then this isn't something I'd want to have everyday for my breakfast.  So If I had to choose a breakfast of choice then I would have a nice bowl of Dorset Cereals - Simply Nutty Museli. This is just lovely.  You can find out about their cereals and ranges at by clicking the link above.

2) First Beverage of Choice
This would definitely be a nice glass of Diet Coke (it has to be diet) with a single shot of Bacardi served in a tall glass with plenty of ice and a squidge of lemon.

But unfortunately I can't drink that everyday.

3) First dessert of Choice
I'm not really a dessert kinda girl. I tend to have a starter or something savory rather than sweet. I do like chocolate though and things like that. But if I was eating out, I'd have a starter rather than a sweet.  Anyway if I really had to choose I'd probably have profiteroles with ice cream or a tiramisu.

Next Weeks topics are these:
1. First speeding ticket or traffic accident
2. First BIG accomplishment you're proud of
3. First thing you usually reach for in the fridge

Five for 5

Is it Monday again already? I just don't know where the weeks and months are going. As it's time for this weeks Five for 5 link up I'll get straight into it. Last week I think I managed to complete 3 out of my 5 goals for the week.

Buy a blue blouse for my 2nd interview at Sweet Dreams. This is red as I didn't get to buy one, mainly because I couldn't find one I liked, let alone have the time to go out and buy one.
Drink at least 3 cups of green tea per day. I've decided to make this an amber because I did drink 3 cups of green tea but not everyday. Probably 4 days out of 7 would be about right.
Complete and submit my Unit 3 assessment of Business & Administration. This one was completed and submitted on Monday night so I'm pleased with this. Completion of this means I only have 2 more units to complete and my course will be done.
Eat more fresh fruit.  I've decided this is an Amber because although I didn't each fresh fruit everyday, I did have a lot more than I would normally on a daily basis.
Make Tom Jones' Slimming World Chicken. This was a recipe that I saw in the latest edition of the Slimming World magazine. Tom was voted "Young slimmer of the year 2012" and Like me he loves KFC, but for a slimmer it can be very daunting food. The reason it's gone red is because we didn't have any fresh chicken breasts readily available. I know I could have gone out and bought some but last week was a very busy week work wise.

So on to this weeks goals. Hopefully I'll do a lot better this week.

1) Plan blog posts for the week. I need to start doing this if I want to blog everyday or every other day. Researching what I want to blog about is important too.
2) Walk or go for a quick walk either with mum or round the shops at least 4 x this week. I have just over 2 months now to slim down for my brother's wedding on the 27 April. I will do this!
3) Do my laundry for the week...I think this one might get neglected because Kevin's not working at the moment and I'll probably be at his flat until 11 pm most nights this week.
4)Start taking my vitamins again. This one's important to me because since I stopped taking them I have started feeling more lethargic and tired. I want to sleep all the time. But last week I started taking them and have now put a reminder in my iPhone to make sure I take them everyday.
5) Do a daily food diary. I've got my weigh in at Slimming World tonight so I've decided that this one needs doing, because If I don't get a loss this week then I will be a little bit annoyed. I've been cutting out bread and trying not to eat bread as much, but being me and loving my white bread so much it's not exactly an easy task. But we shall see.

So that's my goals for this week. I'm hoping to do quite well with most of these, seeing I had such a bad week last week.
Looking forward to reading how you guys all do.

Ta-Ra for now.

Friday Fives

New York, Stuffed Animals,Owls and Errr - Feet.
I am 'stealing' this idea from fellow blogger Halie. She just did this yesterday, and I thought it was so cute, I had to write it down so I could do it someday myself. But I just couldn't wait and started working on it right away, so that I could just post it today! Plus, I've gotten a ton of new followers from a giveaway I'm participating in, so I figure you newbies might like to learn a little more about me. And besides, we all know how much you guys love lists right?!

I've decided to keep most of the same categories but I'm calling it Friday Fives....Hopefully Friday Fives will become a regular thing for me...So watch this space.

Sets of FIVES

Five things you'll find in my purse...
1. Nivea Caramel Creme Lip butter - for when my lips get chapped.
2. Two diaries, a pocket sized one and an A5 one.
3. iPhone USB cord...Well you never know when you might need it.
4. A reporter's notebook - for when (and if) I get an idea for a blog post.
5. My old iPhone 3gs. -It's battery might have gotten flat but it's still available for emergencies.

Five things you'll find in my bedroom...
1. Tons of stuff that doesn't have a 'home' so it just sits around somewhere - I had to leave this one alone because I am exactly the same!
2. Stuffed animals, even though I'm nearly 35 years old - I have loads.
3. Clothes that I have worn that need washing strewn at the bottom of the bed.
4. 2 Laptops. One I use for my own personal things and my mom's laptop which I use to do my business Admin course on, and because my mom's laptop is faster than mine.
5. Two shelves filled with books, mainly about Photography and fiction.

Five things I've always wanted to do...
1. Get a tattoo!
2. Go to New York.
3. Learn Photography and develop my skills.
4. Get married
5. Meet an Owl or have an Owl for a pet - just like Harry Potter.

Five random things I'm currently loving...
1. Owls and anything that has an Owl on it. My mom bought me the cutest Owl Sweater and Trinket Box for Christmas. I also sent out loads of Owl Christmas Cards. Last week at work, I bought a set of 3 earrings - just because they had an Owl with them! Oh and my Owl Scarf!
3. Green Tea. Peppermint Tea. because I'm trying not to have too much dairy. Not because I have allergies or anything.
4. Blogging.  I want to try and make some new blog friends, I love sharing and hope you guys will be kind enough to read and hopefully follow my blog.
5. The new app on my iPhone called "Happier". - It's free in the app store.

Five weird quirks I have...
1. I never used to like the taste of Green and Peppermint teas. Yet now, I can drink three or four cups a day.
2. I can be grumpy in the mornings, especially at the weekend.
3. Kevin tells me I am easy to wind up.  He's right.
4. I have a weird obsession with Kev's feet. He was born with club feet and his toes curl downwards as though he has no toes.
5. I have manky feet, or at least I think I have. Kev, however loves my feet.

Five random songs from my iPhone playlist...
1. Pupananny - Afrika Bambaataa (This one's from my old college days. I remember myself and my friends who were twin girls dancing around like nutters to this).
2. Wanna Be My Lover - La Bouche
3. Lay Your Hands on Me - Bon Jovi.
4. Levels - Avicii.
5. Let it Go - Java (This is my friend's dad's old Band. I still heart their music).
