A Keen Reader = A Keen Blogger

One of My Favourite Childhood Authors

I've just been reading "From the Desk of Bee Drunken" and this latest blog highlights that most bloggers are keen readers. So here are some of my favourite books, that I have read over my 31 years.

Childhood favorites:
The Magic Faraway Tree - Enid Blyton
The Secret Blog
The Secret Seven Books.
The Fantastic Five Books.

Comfort reading:
Going the Distance - Christina Jones
Christina's Blog
Stealing The Show - Christina Jones
It Could Be You - Josie Lloyd
Career Girls - (For some reason I cannot remember the author of this book but it will come to me).

Novels I have read time and time again.
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
Not Without My Daughter - Betty Mahmoody -
I have read this several times and just want to read it again and again. Betty's story is so moving and it's actually been educational at the same time as it has taught me a few words of Farsi, some of which are very similar to my mother's native Assyrian.

Angel Uncovered - Katie Price ( I had wanted to read this for ages after reading a snippet of Heather's whilst on holiday last year, so you can imagine my surprise when I got it for Christmas off kev's mum and dad.)
Funland - Richard Laymon

I'm also a fan of Autobiographies and Biographies. Here's just a few to name:
The Sound of Laughter - Peter Kay
Cheryl Cole.
The Kindness of Strangers - Kate Adie
My Side - David Beckham
My Story - Lewis Hamilton

Books I would like to read this year: TBC

You answered 9 items out of 10 "Yes". According to The National Mental Health Association, 5 or more yes answers indicates that you may be suffering from clinical depression. This test cannot substitute for a visit to a mental health professional. It is meant only to give you an idea where to start a dialogue with your healthcare provider.

Weekend Off

It's been a quiet weekend without Kevin. I did not see him at all on Friday or Saturday. Although it has been nice spending the weekend with my mate Hayley and just doing typical girly things, like watching a movie and all that. I have told Kevin that I want to do this once a month and go out with the girls and he can go out with the lads. I must admit though, I have been somewhat cranky because I have not been with Kevin. I don't quite know what has gotten into him recently, it seems he is becoming distant towards me and If he is then I want to know why. I know he's busy with this course he's doing at work but that's surely no reason to neglect his girlfriend. He never replies to my messages in the week or my calls...it's beginning to make me think...."Is there someone else?" "Is he ignoring me on purpose?" "Does he want to end things?" For the time being I'll just wait to see what happens and then confront him.

My life would suck without Kevin

Only You know how I really Feel about you Kevin....

Guess this means I'm sorry
I'm standing at your door
Guess this means I'll take back all I said before

Like how much I wanted
Anyone but you
Said I'd never come back
but here I am again

Cause we belong together now, yeah
Forever united here somehow, yeah
You got a piece of me,and honestly
My life would suck without you

Maybe I was stupid
For telling you goodbye
Maybe I was wrong for trying to pick a fight
I know that I got issues
But you're pretty messed up too
Either way I found out
I'm nothing without you

Cause we belong together now, yeah
Forever united here somehow, yeah
You got a piece of me,and honestly
My life would suck without you

Being with you is so dysfunctional
I really shouldn't miss you
But I can't let you go, yeah

Cause we belong together now,yeah
Forever united here somehow, yeah
You got a piece of me,and honestly
My life would suck without you

Cause we belong together now, yeah
Forever united here somehow, yeah
You got a piece of me,and honestly
My life would suck without you!

Wednesday Waffle

It's been a somewhat miserable start to the week. After having nearly 3 lovely days in Mere Brow and our Caravan, it's felt a little unpleasant coming home to rain for the past three days. It's supposed to be summer here in the UK and seeing as April is supposedly the wettest month of the year, we hardly had any rain in April. It's raining again today, all I can see when I look out of the window are droplets on the window. The Trees wafting in the wind. Kevin was saying that this year was supposed to be one of the hottest summers we've had in a long time. I just hope he's right.

Wordpress Blog

My Wordpress Blog

Bank Holiday Antics again.

This one is similar to the one we stayed in.

Again so is this one.

So off we went. kevin arrived around 3.15 to pick me up, we headed off to mere brow for our 2 night stay in a caravan. As we were approaching Preston and the Motorway, kevin's phone rings, its his dad. He's only left his sugar and tea bags at home. We were gagging for a brew when we arrived and then after finding a small box of tea bags in the cupboard we were quite releived but then needed sugar so we set off to find the local tesco, we ended up visiting a tesco express as we both needed that brew, so we got a few bits, the essentials, bread, milk, sugar and butter. Then headed back to the caravan for a brew and to freshen up.Afterwards it was off out for something eat and then back to chill out.

Saturday morning we were greeted with tranquil blue skies and a warming sun. So after making some bacon and sausage butties we decided to head out to watch football in nearby Southport, as we drove into the town centre we could see nothing but shops, not a pub in sight on either side of the main street...so Kevin suggested Blackpool. It has been a while since we were there and as it was such a lovely day it seemed an opportunity not to be missed. We found a bar in one the arcades that had football showing and settled down to watch my beloved United win 2-0. Then we decided on a walk around Blackpool. Kevin wanted to buy me a top and I agreed to letting him buy me one from topshop (pics of which will post later on. I knew it would probably fit so didn't try it on. kevin didn't see anything he liked in topman and we made our way to Primark where I bought a little purple clutch bag with a long strap to match my purple top. next it was off to peacocks where Kevin bought a t-shirt and a new shirt. Then we headed back to the caravan to freshen up before going out for some food. We arrived back around half five and kevin said he was going for a shower. Then sometime before 6pm he came up behind me and said "Get your clothes off." I looked at him and asked, "How can you possibly think about sex at this time?" Kevin said nothing and just grabbed my hand and directed me towards the bedroom...enough said.
I didn't feel like going out for dinner after that, I would have stayed in bed all night with Kevin. But we were both hungry.

Sunday we were greeted again with blue sky and sunshine. We had also decided to go home today as it was so quiet and we knew it would be windy in Blackpool so we got ready and decided to head for home. Then seeing as we were both off Monday we went out with some friends sunday night. Here's a few pics that Heva's mum took of us.

We arrived back at Kevin's around quarter to twelve and I sent Kevin a text telling him what I wanted to do to him. He was downstairs in a flash and we were soon at it like rabbits. God he's good. I ended up straddling him on the settee and then he took me from behind. It was amazing. I can't wait for him to make love to me again. I just can't believe how good he is in bed.

Sara's Summer Must Haves

I need a trendy black skirt as I am fed up of wearing jeans when I go out. This one from New Look is nice and comfy to wear.

The perfect Little Summer dress. Corals seem to be big this season and this bares no exception.

Floral tops are also in this season and I thought this was soooo cute and girly.

This to give me a nice healthy glow when I can't sunbathe...I am somewhat slightly olive skinned but not much.

Seeing as big glasses are going to be huge again this summer, I thought these would look good.

And these from River Island are quite eyecatching too.

This is definitely one for my suitcase.

This has an spf 15 so its great for everyday use and it doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy or dry. Goes on nice and smooth.

Everyone needs a good lip plump and this is one of my faves. Leaves your lips soft and looking fuller. It can be worn on its own or as a base under your favourite lippy.

Holiday Plans

May Bank Holiday Plans

Kevin surprsied me the other day when he told me to book the May Bank Holiday Weekend off, he was originally taking me away for my birthday at Easter but something came up and we couldn't go. There's me thinking that he didn't want to take me away, seeing as he's just bought himself a brand new one of these.

So anyway, I did as he asked and he began searching for a May Bank Holiday break. He came up with this Woodlands Caravan Park.

I was a bit surprised at first as I have not stayed in a caravan since my grandma and grandad had theirs at Carnforth. That must have been over 15 years ago now. I hope its how I remember it to be. Full of spiders and with a neat little porta-loo, at least that's how the one in Keswick used to be. I rememeber sitting on the settees and looking out towards the park and the shop that sold the most wonderful ice lollies that had been homemade. Then there was the caravan at Carnforth that had it own built in toilet, a proper toilet. Not a porta-loo that was stinky and made the caravan smell. But a real toilet.

I'll post up some pics when we've been and fill you in on how the weekend went. Not that we'll be planning on doing much, at least that's what Kevin said. He's got a dirty mind that boy!

Music on a Tuesday

1. Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol. This song will always be in my music collection. It's one of the very songs that reminds me of the week Kevin and I got together.

2. Human - The Killers. After hearing this song over and over at work and with Pinky playing it almost weekly, It seems to have grown on me.

3. My Life Would Suck Without You - Kelly Clarkson. I have never really been a big Kelly fan, but then Kevin told me to listen to the words and to put it simply, they brought tears to my eyes. As she says in the song "My Life would suck without you." And it really would suck if I didn't have Kevin in my life.

4. Flor D' Luna (Moonflower)- Santana. I adore this song and it has always been a favourite for a long as I can remember getting into music. I can rememeber going into the records cabinet, taking this out and putting it on full blast when my folks weren't home. It's the perfect chill out song for me. I often listen to it to make me nod off at night.

5.Black Magic Woman - Santana. This one again is another 70's favourite. Mum has nearly all Santana's Lp's and I love their catchy guitar melodies. Their music is just so soothing.

6.Chocolate Salty Ball - Chef (South Park). I think this song is so funny. If you miss the beginning then you might wonder what he is talking about.

7. Livin On a Prayer - Bon Jovi. One of my favourite 80's songs. Not to mention favourite songs of all time.

8. Hard to Say I'm sorry - Chicago. If anything ever happened to Kev, this is probably the first song I would listen to, ok then the second song.

9. What's Love Got To Do With It? - Tina Turner. The words in the first chorus say it all really.

10.Fallen - Lauren Wood. This song reminds me of the first time that Kevin told me that he loved me. We had only been seeing other for a month and I said "How can you be in love with me after only a month Kevin?" To which he replied "Well ok then, I have Fallen for you big style."

Spring Rant Weekend Review

Spring Lambs in the sunshine
This weekend has of course been another beautiful Spring Weekend and naturally I have been cooped up inside working. Saturday morning, I was looking forward to being driven into work by Nick and coming home around 2ish. But guess what? Ass Man Adi decided to swap Nick onto a later shift so that meant no nice chauffer driven lift into work. Naturally I asked father for a lift, hoping that my ickle Kev would be able to pick me up. I later got a text from him saying that he had not yet got his car back and that it would be after 2pm so he couldn't come for me. Oh well nevermind I said and phoned father to come pick me up. Then it was off to Kev's for a few drinks before coming home and waking at 8am for the Chinese Grand Prix of which Sebastian Vettel won comfortably. How I wish I had bet on him to win.

Then It was off to work for a 1-5, then strangely enough home to watch the last 20 minutes of Man U v Everton. United played like girls and were knocked out on penalties. It serves their manager right for putting out a team of kids and thinking that they would beat a strong Everton side. But hey shit happens. They can't win everything I guess. At least now they can concentrate on the Champions League and the Premiership.

My new Samsung Pixon (well I say new, as it's new to me. Got it off one of Kev's colleagues...)

We are back in 8-megapixel land again with Samsung's oddly named Pixon, also known as the M8800. Having given Recommended awards to the first two 8-megapixel handsets I've seen, Samsung's own i8510 Innov8 and LG's Renoir KC910 the Pixon has some pressure on it at the outset. Particularly as I don't give those awards out very freely.

The Pixon has pretty standard looks for a phone whose front is dominated by a large touchscreen. The Call and End buttons and a round back key are squeezed into a tiny panel along the bottom edge of the front fascia. The predominance of black is predictable enough, and visually there are distinct similarities to other Samsung handsets such as the Omnia i900 and Tocco F480.

The plastic casing won't be to all tastes, though it does help keep this phone's weight down to an acceptable 122g. Size-wise this is a bit of a chunky mobile to carry around at 107.9mm tall, 54.6mm wide and 13.8mm thick. However, compare that to the Renoir (107.8mm tall, 55.9mm wide, 13.95mm thick, 110g) and the i8510 (106.5mm tall, 53.9mm wide, 17.2mm thick 136g) and you find that it is pretty much par for the course for this kind of spec of phone.

There is a hold button on the left edge along with a switcher key that'll call up a grid of six shortcuts. Four shortcuts take you to apps - messaging, the browser, the call screen and music player. The other two shortcuts are a back button and the main menu shortcut.

There is also a microSD card slot on this edge which you can use to boost the 200MB of built-in storage. You get a 1GB microSD card with the phone. Meanwhile, the right edge has a volume rocker which doubles as a zoom manager in the camera, a shortcut key to the photo album and the obligatory camera key.

On the top edge is one of the things I like least about this phone. Samsung's multifunction port. You use this to administer mains power, connect to a PC and connect headphones. The good news is that the provided headset has a 3.5mm connector just past the microphone so you can substitute your own headphones for the provided in-ear buds if you want to, but I'd have preferred a 3.5mm connector on the phone itself.
The screen and user interface are both lovely. The screen is 240 pixels wide and 400 pixels high, has 262 thousand colours and measures 3.2 inches diagonally. The touch based user interface is really easy to get to grips with. If you've used or seen the Tocco you'll be very familiar with how things work. Samsung provides a stylus but if you are like me you'll never need it. It attaches to the phone via a lanyard and can dangle around if you want it to.

The main menu screen and the home screen both have a set of four tap icons along the bottom row which provide permanent access to some key features - the keypad for making voice and video calls (the phone supports HSDPA to 7.2mbps), your phonebook (there is internal space for a massive 2,000 contacts), messages and widgets.

Widgets first appeared in the Tocco and they take the same format here as they did there. On the main screen of the phone there is a panel running along the left edge of the screen that you can slide out by tapping its tab. This offers a range of elements you can drag onto the main screen.

Some go online for information, such as the AccuWeather widget and the Google search bar. Others provide access to resources on the phone. For example there is a widget for controlling the music player, another for the handset's FM radio. Another gives you access to favourite contacts, and yet another puts an alarm clock on screen. There are plenty more.

It is the 8-megapixel camera which is the headline feature of this phone, though. It sits on the back of the casing and a lens cover sweeps open when you activate the camera software from the handset main menu.

The camera has auto focus, a macro mode, and a dual power LED flash. Shake reduction helps you avoid fuzzy photos, while face and smile detection help you ensure you get good shots of people. There is another feature called Face Link which lets you tag people in a photo and then search for pictures by name. Oh, and as well as sorting photos by face tag you can sort them by time taken and colour. The phone's GPS antenna caters for geotagging.

The great panorama shooting system I saw in the i8510 is here too. You set this up, take your first shot, then move the camera through the area you want in the panorama and it takes the sequence of photos it needs automatically.

When viewing photos the accelerometer switches the phone between portrait and landscape viewing modes, but, even better, the ‘tilt and flip' system means you can tilt the phone in your hand to move through a slideshow.

Image quality can be very good indeed. The macro mode proved to be the best element of all. The carnivorous plant was photographed very close up and the individual globs of sticky, insect catching gum are beautifully rendered. The cat gets another look in as an 8-megapixel photo subject. His colours aren't quite as bright as they were with the i8510 or Renoir but the detail of his fur is nicely captured.

Music playback was not problematic at all, and I got seven and three quarter hours of music from a full battery charge. Samsung says you'll get 430 minutes of 2.5G talk, 310 hours on standby. I like the Web browser too which can flick into wide and tall modes thanks to the accelerometer, has an easily accessible full screen mode and is amenable to finger panning.

There is plenty of other software on board including calendar, memo tool, task manager, world clock, calculator, unit converter, FM radio, video editor, voice recorder, timer, stopwatch, RSS reader, Web browser, Google maps and something called Live Pix, a doodling application.

Verdict

In terms of general usability this is my favourite 8-megapixel handset to date. The Tocco was a super mobile phone, and the Pixon brings it to new heights.

Hopefully I'll get round to posting up some shots that I have taken with it soon.

Bank Holiday Antics

Some pics of me and Kev from the BH Weekend.

This was the first Bank Holiday Weekend that we have had where It's been nice for a long time. I spent most of Good Friday playing with my new toy. A Guitar Hero clip for my Ds Lite. I've already completed the easy level and am now somewhat half way through the medium level. Saturday was more the same as Friday, then Sunday I had a nice walk around Towneley Park with my friend Hayley. Then It was back to her house to watch some football. Next was home to have a nice long hot bath (I was in there soaking for an hour..I just love it when your fingers and toes go all wrinkly like prunes) and use the new shower and bath stuff that Mark and Heva got me for my Birthday the other day. My brother and his girlfriend came home and I asked her to borrow her GHD's. So that was my hair straight and then it was off out with my Lovely Kevin, his brother Mark and his girlfriend Heva. Monday was spent messing about on the laptop until it crashed rudely on Tuesday afternoon (but more about that later). Thinking that Kevin, Mark and Heva had gone to Blackpool(they hadn't!)I got wound up and told Kev off for behaving like a pratt. I then apologised later on after going to Slimming World and putting on half a pound, so now I have to complete a food diary to show Caroline(our group leader) where I think I am going wrong. Then after seeing Kevin briefly, It was round to Nick's to watch BH 90210 (or rather 90210) and a chill out and chat. Tuesday was something of a nice easy day, went into work at Sports Direct and served several people on the tills before disappearing into the delivery bay to blow up balls as we were short everywhere and with the weather coming nice now, it's no wonder people are buying footballs. At One o'clock it was off upstiars to cover Imran's break as I was the only one in, apart from Ass Man Adrian who can do refunds. Then Imran reappeared from his break along with Shaniepoos and I headed off to my other work. I slept from the moment I left work and through until 2am, could not for the life of me get back to sleep after that and was grumpy yesterday. I'm grumpy today and not looking forward to a stupis 2-630 shift today but hey shit happens and it baffles me as to why one of the college kids can't work afternoons, as they are still off for Easter...I'm neither pissed or puzzled about this, therefore I'm Pissled. I've got tomorrow off and then I'm in saturday 10-2 (at least Nick is driving in to work) and then hopefully he's doing my 7-12 and I'm doing his 1-5 on Sunday. I hate Sunday afternoon shifts and I hate the Sunday Morning delivery shifts. As soon as I find another job, I am outta that place.

Relationships

Always be honest
Telling each other the truth is key to surviving, Lies only breed trust issues in a relationship.

Dont forget to Communicate
Tell each other anything, no matter how uncomfortable. weather it be about money, Sex (especially sex), Needs, or even just communicating about everyday stuff when there's no "issues" to be discussed.

Be best friends
There is no relationship if you cant call each other friends. I find this rule to be the easiest one. If it's not there, if you cant have a good time hanging out and being friends, whats the point in pursuing a relationship?

Always show affection
Try to keep it fresh. there's no way you'll last if you lose affection for each other. Ladies, men like to cuddle, just not after sex. Set aside a different time for cuddling that isn't related to sex, and i guarantee that you'll get your cuddle fix, and he wont mind a bit.

Always accept them for who they are
If your with a man/woman your determined to fix, or change, or polish up a bit, your in the wrong relationship. I love my man, and that includes his nerdy electronic fixation, sometimes appalling manners, his inability to handle hard liquor without turning into a big baby, and his silly fear of clowns. There's no sense in wasting your time, Love all of them, or leave them. It'll be better for both of you in the long run.

Never let friends interfear in your relationship.
I've found that when most relationships are new, the friends of both parties feel left out, and sometimes even jealous. Never let this be a source of fighting between the two of you. it's not "bro's before hoe's", nor do "girlfriends last forever, and men come and go." We are a species designed to breed and have a family. This would never happen if we lived by these philosophies.

Never do anything you wouldnt want them doing.
I've made this mistake, and it doesn't feel very good when they come back at you with the comment like "how would you feel if i (fill in the blank).....?" Actually i went a little crazy inside when i imagined him staying out all night for "work" with a co-worker of the opposite sex. Needless to say, i haven't repeated this offense.

Apple macbook, please

Apple MacBook 2,4 GHz

I want the new Apple Mac Book Air. My current laptop has buggered up yet again so I have no internet at home, unless I go on my brother's computer which I hate doing. Plus my laptop never connects wirelessly to the internet for long. I'm lucky if I even get an hour out of it before it drops signal and I have to switch it off for the night.

If I can't have that then, I'll settle for any decent laptop. Lol.

My Grandfather
I can't really admire him much anymore seeing as he passed away eleven years ago, but I can still talk to him in my prayers.

My parents
They have always been there for me to help with and advise me.

My Boyfriend
Kev's always at the end of the phone if I need to talk to him about something that I can't talk to my folks about.

My brother
He was ill for quite a time after finishing university and he's since pulled through and made a full on recovery. I'm very proud of him.

Tossing Stones. Inspirational Lady.

Helen Before

Helen After.

Helen Whittaker had always been heavy. For the Manchester costco member, a little over five feet tall, and at one time weighing more than 21stone being overweight was a fact of life. "I was a big girl for 19 years, and I honestly never thought that being slimmer was an option for me". Says Helen. " I just thought that was how I was meant to be. It was complete denial."

She got married and had three children, never sensing her size had a negative impact on the youngest child, who battled with learning disabilities, was taunted about in the schoolyard. "It was the first that time that my weight had become an issue to the children." attests Helen. "So I decided to do something about it."

Despite various diets and weight-loss programmes, success was illusive until she joined Slimming World, a weight-loss, fitness and support programme. With hard work and dedication, healthy eating and a personal trainer she went from a size 30 to a size 10.

To listen to Helen is to hear her passion and commitment to stopping the proliferation of obesity that is threatening to take over the United Kingdom. She is now spreading her message through her own Slimming World Franchise and motivational speaking.
She admits to "making a lot of money now". But she says, "It's not about the money: It's about how many people I can actually help". Helen goes on to say, proudly, "I've lost well over 12 stone, I love waking up in the morning now."
