I Want Wednesday

Ok, So I know it's a day late, but can you blame a girl for wanting an early night? I was in bed last night for half past ten.

Here's my first installment of I want Wednesday.

A pair of Nike Zoom Structure Triax + 12's. In order to kick start my running regime and lose a few pounds.

Obviously to pair up with my Nike Running shoes. We have two of these in Yellow at work, I keep meaning to go and buy it, seeing as it's in the Staff room, just been so busy in my other job this week, that I have not had the time.

Just because I need music to fill my Pod with. £200GBP should be nice.

I loved her 1st Book, Angel. Read Angel Uncovered and now Sapphire...

Publisher: JOHN MURRAY
Publication Date: 06/03/2008
Format: Hardback
Til Death Do Us Part

Forced marriage is a subject rarely written about by those involved in it. Now Sameem Ali, a councillor for Moss Side, Manchester, reveals her moving story of childhood abuse, forced marriage and eventual escape. Belonging is a book for those inspired by Ugly and A Piece of Cake.

Abandoned by her parents, Sameem Ali spent several years in a children's home. When her family wanted her back, she couldn't wait. But she was entering a nightmare . . .

Sameen was beaten by her mother and treated as a servant; the only bright spot in her life seemed to be a trip to Pakistan, to her family's village. But once there Sameen ; aged just thirteen ; was forced to marry a complete stranger. Two months later, pregnant, she was back in Glasgow suffering abuse by her family. Even when she managed to escape, her terrible experiences were not over. For she had violated her family's 'honour' . . .

This one sounds quite moving..I'll post a review of it when I've finally read it.

Night Muisc - Jojo Moyes. Just because it looks fun.

The Secret Between Us - Barbara Delinsky. I like a twist to the plot.

Change of Heart - Jodi Picoult. I love her books, so I have to read this.

Breakfast at Tiffany's - Truman Capote. I've seen the film with Audrey Hepburn so why not read the book?

A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess. Because it's supposedly banned!

Drop Dead Beautiful - Jackie Collins. Lucky Santangelo, need I say more?

Hotel Babylon - Imogen Edwards Jones. After reading Sirena's review I wanna read all of these.

This Year It Will Be Different - Maeve Binchy. I've always been something of a fan of Maeve.

Anything by Joanna Trollop. I don't know why, but I just love her books.

If you've already read any of these, please tell me what you thought, but don't give too much away.

Girls Vs Grown Women

Girls vs GROWN Women
Are you a girl or a grown woman?

Girls vs GROWN Women

Girls want to control the man in their life.
GROWN women know that if he's truly hers, he doesn't need controlling. This is Me!

Girls check you constantly for not calling them.
GROWN women are usually too busy to realize you hadn't. Not too sure about this one..I'm forever checking my cellphone.

Girls are afraid to be alone.
GROWN women are not. They use this as a time for personal growth. I don't like being alone if I know the people I live with aren't home that night.

Girls ignore the good guys.
GROWN women ignore the bad guys. Bad Boys are always a temptation but when you find Mr. Right you'll want to ignore the bad guys.

Girls make you come home.
GROWN women make you want to come home.

Girls fight other females claiming "you took my man".
GROWN women know that he isn't worth the trouble & no one can "take"
anyone, he chose to leave!

Girls leave their schedule wide-open and wait for a guy to call and
make plans.
GROWN women make their own plans and nicely tell the guy to get in
where he fits.

Girls worry about not being pretty and/or good enough for their man.
GROWN women know that they are pretty and/or good enough for any man,
flaws & all! - My man loves me for who and what I am and wouldn't change me for the world! I'd change a few things about me though.

Girls try to monopolize all their man's time(i.e., don't want him
hanging with his friends).
GROWN women realize that a lil' bit of space makes the 'together time
'even more special- and goes to kick it with her own friends. - We often see his friends together, but he has his man time with his friends and I have my girlie time with my girlfriends too.

Girls think a guy crying is weak.
GROWN women offer their shoulder and a tissue while understanding that
he's still human. - I like a Man to show emotion - it does prove that he is human!

Girls want to be spoiled and 'tell' their man so.
GROWN women 'show' him and make him comfortable enough to splurge on
her, without fear of losing his 'manhood'. - A spontaneous man is always good to have.

Girls get hurt by one man and make all men pay for it.
GROWN women know that HE was just one man (and know that if they stop
shopping in the same store, they will stop picking the same man). True. It's happened to me and I've learnt from the past by finding the one I want to be with.

Girls fall in love and chase aimlessly after the object of their affection, IGNORING all 'signs'.
GROWN women know that sometimes the one you love, don't always love you
back-and know they must move on, without bitterness.

Girls will read this and unwisely get an attitude.
GROWN women will read this and pass it on to other GROWN women and
their male friends. Hmmm yes maybe.

Friday Fantasy Man Pt 2

Friday fantasy Man

I know last week, I said this week's friday fantasy man was Kevin Bacon, but after going on't turf on Wednesday night I had to post some pics of their goalscorer Robbie Blake. He won the game for Burnley, scoring their only goal against a rather poor Manchester United side, of which included Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov. United Had a few decent chance but were extremely poor.

Burnley's Robbie Blake

He might not be to everyone's taste, but he's got a certain something about him...and he's still only 33.

Orphan Movie Review

Went to see this on Sunday night with Kevin and all I can say is...Shit! I mean that as in it scared me in some parts..some parts were sick, others funny. for those of you who haven't seen it, I'd only recommend it if you are not at all squeamish and don't mind the sight of blood etc...

Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John Coleman (Peter Sarsgaard) are experiencing strains in their marriage after Kate's third child was stillborn. The loss is particularly hard on Kate, who is still recovering from a drinking habit that cost her job. When the couple decides to adopt another child, they adopt Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman), a nine-year-old Russian girl, from the local orphanage. While Kate and John's deaf daughter Max (Aryana Engineer) embraces Esther almost immediately, their son Daniel (Jimmy Bennett) is somewhat less welcoming.

Not long after Esther arrives, she pushes a girl who teased her in class off a slide, breaking her leg. Kate and John initially seem to believe Esther's claim that it was an accident. Max saw Esther shove the girl, and later covers for Esther by saying that the girl "slipped." However, Kate grows suspicious when Esther, who watched Kate and John have sex, expresses knowledge of sex and its slang far more sophisticated than would be expected for a child her age, and is further disturbed when Sister Abigail, the head of the orphanage, warns her and John about Esther's tendency to be around when things go wrong. Esther overhears this, and later kills Sister Abigail with a hammer to the head, later convincing Max to help her hide the body and the hammer. After they hide it in their treehouse, Daniel witnesses them descending the treehouse, and later that night, Esther holds a box cutter to Daniel's neck and threatens to cut off his penis if he tells anyone what he saw.

An increasingly suspicious Kate is told by the orphanage that they can't find any record of the Russian orphanage Esther came from, but However, John doesn't believe her, despite continued ominous behavior by Esther, which includes sneaking into John's workshop, breaking her own arm in a vise, and convincing John that Kate broke it a scuffle. On Esther's first day back at school, she slips Kate's SUV into reverse while she and Daniel are getting out, nearly killing Max. Badly shaken, Kate buys two bottles of wine, but at the last minute pours one of them down the drain.

Kate subsequently learns, through a search of Esther's room, that she was housed at the Saarne Institute, a mental hospital in Estonia. She calls the Institute and discovers that it isn't an orphanage, but a mental institution. Continuing her investigation of Esther's time at the Institute, she is convinced Esther is a "bad seed" and wants her out of the house, but John and her counselor think that Kate is relapsing into her drinking habit, and after John produces the other bottle Kate bought the night before, he threatens to leave her unless she gets help.

A few days later, Daniel talks to Max about Esther's behavior. Max reveals that she's drawn several pictures of Esther's misdeeds, and that they hid the hammer Esther used to kill Sister Abigail in his treehouse. Daniel decides to get the hammer and go to the police. However, Esther follows him up and sets the treehouse on fire, intending to get rid of the evidence and kill Daniel. Daniel escapes escapes by falling out of the tree, and is severely injured. Esther tries to finish him off by smashing a brick over his head, but Max shoves her out of the way just in time. At the hospital, Esther tries to kills him, and after Kate knocks Esther to the ground, she is sedated by doctors.

At home, Esther cuts one of Kate's dresses to make a provocative outfit and puts on a large amount of makeup in an attempt to seduce John. When John threatens to call the orphanage about her, Esther stabs him to death. Max witnesses this and hides in her closet.

As Kate is coming out of sedation, she gets a call from the Saarne Institute's director, Dr. Värava, who reveals that Esther isn't a girl, but a 33-year-old woman named Leena. She has hypoplasia, a disorder that stunted her physical growth, and has spent most of her life posing as a little girl. The doctor tells Kate that Esther is dangerously psychotic, and has killed dozens of people. Horrified, Kate rushes home to find Esther stalking Max with John's pistol. Kate tries to stop her, but Esther shoots her in the arm and tries to chase Max.

Their chase takes them outside, where Kate ends up struggling with Esther at a frozen pond. Max acquires the gun, and shoots a hole in the ice, causing Kate and Esther to fall in. After fighting off Esther's attempts to drown her, Kate crawls out of the hole, followed by Esther. Reverting to her little girl persona, Esther begs for her life, addressing Kate as her mother. Kate responds that she is not Esther's mother, and breaks Esther's neck, sending her back into the pond to drown.

A few weeks ago, my list of adjectives to describe exercise or activity would have begun: time-consuming, tiring, embarrassing, expensive… I was wrong.

Winston Churchill famously said “When I feel the urge to exercise coming on I just lie down until it wears off”. And he was not alone. Dolly Parton is reported to have said “I have all those Jane Fonda videos and just love to sit and eat cakes while I watch them.”

Which just goes to show that

Exercise has a huge image problem!

Forget sweaty exercise classes – think sexy salsa dancing

If running isn’t your thing – try rollerblading around the park

You might find walking dull – but not if there’s a pub at the end!

Include an element of competition and go 10 pin bowling with your mates

Go green, save on petrol and get fitter - cycle to work.

The term “activity” is practically all-encompassing, and includes formal workouts as well as “lifestyle” exercise. Does your idea of activity include things like this:

Be impatient
Don’t wait for the lift, walk up the stairs! Prefer the escalator? Walk up those stairs too!

Support your local shops
Leave the car at home, and walk to your local shops. Regular walking helps to strengthen your heart and lungs, and carrying your shopping home will give your arms a work out too.

Do It Yourself!
If you’ve been inspired by the dozens of interior design programmes on TV, do something about it! Decorating is a great way to burn calories – and both you and your house will benefit.

Fidget
The fight for the remote control is over. Hide it somewhere safe, and change the channel by hand. A recent study showed that using the remote to change channel conserves 1 calorie each time you use it! And when you do watch TV, why not avoid the commercials by racing around the house, doing those little jobs that otherwise get forgotten.

Enjoy Yourself
Don’t smile lovingly as the children play tag in the garden – join in! Fancy a go on the adventure playground? I dare you! Piggy back races in the park – bet you can’t beat me!

Including regular moderate activity in your lifestyle:

helps prevent weight gain
On average people tend to gain around 1-2lbs a year throughout their adult life. However, keeping active can help you remain a healthy weight. Studies show that physically active people tend to have lower body fat levels, weigh less and are more likely to avoid weight gain over time than inactive people.

helps you lose weight
Exercise alone has only a modest effect on weight loss and it’s true that much greater losses can be achieved by changing dietary habits and Food Optimising. However, the combination of Food Optimising plus increased activity gives better weight loss than either alone.

Synergy
Body Magic is the synergy created by Food Optimising plus the right kind of moderate activity. Body Magic brings results that are so much more than simply burning up a few extra calories. In fact, the whole synergistic effect is nothing short of magic

Activity helps you lose weight due to the extra energy expended while exercising, plus it helps preserve lean muscle tissue and hence metabolic rate so you also burn more energy even while at rest. When you slim you always lose some lean muscle tissue along with body fat. As muscle tissue constantly burns energy it raises your metabolic rate. Therefore, as you lose it, your metabolic rate slowly decreases. However, increasing your activity levels prevents or helps reduce the amount of muscle tissue lost and therefore help maintain a higher metabolic rate. If you’ve been particularly inactive for some time, increasing activity levels can even help you build up muscle and raise your metabolic rate.

Increasing activity will mean that more of the weight you lose will be body fat.

There is plenty of evidence that regular activity is a key factor in successfully maintaining weight loss. Data shows that no matter whether weight was lost through diet, exercise or a combination of both, the people who keep weight off in the long term are those who have included and continue to include regular physical activity in their lifestyle. The exact reason why exercise is so important in maintaining weight loss is not yet fully understood. We know it will burn energy and help maintain muscles and metabolic rate. It is also known that psychosocial factors such as the feeling of empowerment, improved confidence, body image and self-esteem are important too.

Now that Nike have finally made their for use without an ipod nano in the form of a sports band that you put around your arm. We have them at work for £31.99 so I think I might just buy one of those come friday!

Six Questions to Ask Yourself Before Starting a Business

Six Questions to Ask Yourself Before Starting a Business

Another MJ Tribute from Calypso

Med Playa theme song.

Every Night the kids would dance along to this...Love this song!

Michael Jackson Tribute - Calypso 2009.

I was disappointed that we didn't get to see this when we were there...as we arrived on the Friday, this would be shown on the Tuesday that we were coming home. Our friend Encarna said that it had been changed slightly from last year. So here it is for you all to enjoy.

Random Thursday Ramblings

Well It's been exactly a week now since Kevin and I returned from sunny Salou, and quite frankly I can't wait to go back. If I could (and assuming I had £1m or £500.000), I would jack in my job right now and tell Kevin to do the same. I'd take us both out to Salou and book us into the Calypso for 6 months. Ok, maybe for the rest of the season. When the season ends, I'd find us a nice little apartament to rent until christmas. Then we'd come back here for Christmas and New year, only to head back out again to Salou to wait until the season begins again. It would be amazing to have that amount of money and just spend a year or two travelling round Spain and seeing sights that I have not seen there before. If Kevin didn't want to do it then I'd do it on my own. I'd love to travel America too. Just the thought of being able to visit New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Memphis, amongst other places. I'd also fly out to Hong Kong and spend a couple of days there before heading out to Melbourne to surprise my nan and auntie by just turning up on their doorstep.

After a month staying with my nan and auntie, I'd fly us both up to Sydney to visit Susie, Caroline and Christina. We'd stay there a month and then I'd come back down with then and stay a couple of weeks with Uncle Edward, Nichola, Joshua and Caitlin.
Then it would be off to New Zealand to sample the Fjords. Finally flying to Los Angeles or San Diego to visit Aunt Elsie and Uncle Adrian for a couple of weeks before finally returning home to Kevin.

For some people this is a reality...but for me it is just a dream. A very nice dream.

Spend the rest on myself and my boyfriend.

5. Ultimate dinner guests?

Salou on the Costa Dorada. I love it there now and can't wait until we go back. If I had the money or I could get a job there then I would!

8. Last film I saw?
Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince.

9. All time sporting Hero?
I'd probably have to say Tanni Grey-Thomson, because like my boyfriend she was born with Spina Bifida, although hers is the full blown version which explains why she is now in a wheelchair. My other half has the occulta type which means that although he has the scar on his back to prove it, he shows no other visible signs of having it. I think that she has proved that you don't have to be paralysed or have no use of your limbs to achieve success. Also the squad of Burnley FC, they have shown that they have what it takes to be able to play against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United by winning the Play off's at Wembley and gaining promotion to the Premiership.
